Thank you everyone!

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all of your responses regarding "Bright Blessings." It was a tough decision, but I've officially turned the offer down. Throughout Witchy Words history, I have repeatedly turned down offers that I felt went against my personal teaching styles and ethics, such as when a major religious blogging network offered me a blog on their site - in exchange for moving my whole blog there and right after drama concerning the site's management. Despite offering me a significant flat rate for the book, I don't feel like the premise is quite in line with the values I try to present through my blog. I personally am not a huge fan of spell-a-day books and much rather like to teach the mechanics and tools behind a spell. This fosters education, critical thinking and creativity. I feel like any way I approach "Bright Blessings" would have punctured the authenticity of my Craft and potentially destabilized the trust you as readers put into me. Fortunately, I have a wonderful day job that allows me to turn away offers like this.

Thank you so much for your honest opinions and support on this, everyone! I truly appreciate it.

  1. Totally respect your desire to stay authentic to yourself. I wish more people were like that. Would you ever consider self-publishing? Not that I think you have to—you have an amazing platform here with your blog. I’ve learned so much from it and continue to look forward to your content. But I think if you ever wanted to you could certainly succeed in publishing. You have a fresh perspective and authentic voice.

    1. Thank you so much, Taylar! I have considered self-publishing and in fact wanted to write a book last year but community issues got in the way. I'm hoping to plan out writing a book potentially next year for publishing in 2020, depending on my availability.
