April Random Update: Work, Familiars and Upcoming Articles!

Hello from the Witchy Cottage!  I realized today that I haven't blogged in a while, so I think it's time for a bit of a random update, don't you think?  The last time I did a random update was in February, when life was mellow and mundane.  Boy, has that changed!  Things have been so incredibly busy lately.

In my last update, I mentioned that January and February was the caricaturist "dry season" as we geared up for after prom/graduation/wedding season.  Well here we are in the 2015 busy season and it's pretty darn hectic!  Yep, that's me up there on a left drawing funny faces.  I had three gigs that day and was on the road from 7 in the morning until 3 am the following morning.  It sounds nuts but that's the artist life!  I love my job to pieces.

I've also been incredibly booked with commissions!  In fact, I have several due today, so I won't be able to spend too much time on this entry.  But that's pretty much why I've been strangely silent the past few weeks.

Other than work, life's been pretty normal here at the house.  I've been trying to start a garden endlessly but it keeps getting pushed back.  I'm convinced that, should I not be able to get around to it this weekend, I'm simply not going to be able to do it this year, and that breaks my heart.  Fortunately, all the seeds have a planting time of between April and May so, hopefully, I should be safe.

Our roommate has been on an extended leave from work, so we've been enjoying life when we can.  We officially have Headrush Roasters mugs for home and have regularly went on excursions for bubble tea and their lavender matcha latte.  Goodness, do I need more lavender in my life!  At least I have four packets of seeds for that.

With the return of work also means the return of spare money, so I've been hitting up our local thrift stores.  I finally found a small tea set that I absolutely adore!

... Not that I really needed more teapots or teacups.

The pets have also been doing well.  Artemis is about to get his first groom of the year, just in time for the warmer weather!  He's been looking forward to this for some time.  He's not going to like me too much when I drop him off, but he'll be so absolutely ecstatic once they shave a small puppy off of him.

Speaking of spring, the warmer weather has brought more outside time, and thus more time with our neighboring dog Carver.  The doggie bromance is so real that, if Artie hears Carver's collar jingling, he runs to the back door and whines to go outside only to run with his BFF up and down the fence line.  They are just the cutest things!

Fun fact: When we were first looking at the Witchy Cottage, we knocked on our neighbor's door to see how they liked the area.  When she answered the door with Carver, Artie was immediately smitten.  That's pretty much the whole reason we chose this house.  No regrets, as it's been one of the best decisions we've ever made!

The cats have also been enjoying the warmer weather, and particularly Zeus.  We found their small cat tree in storage and had to bring it upstairs for them to lounge on.  It's been a highlight of their year, for sure.

Apollo (black cat) has become a little more social and calmer as he ages, but the derp is still strong with this one.  He fell off the back of the couch the other day and landed squarely on his back.  Anyone who tells you that cats always land on their feet is lying.  Fortunately, he's fine.  Just... derpy.  And Hermes (white cat)?  Hermes is Hermes.  Our Sasscat has been lounging, loving and generally mocking our lives.  This cat sincerely back talks me.  But he's so darn beautiful, so he gets a pass.  Besides, when he's not sassy, he's the most loving cat I've ever met.  So loving that, if I've been gone for a while, he drools out of excitement when I come home.  I truly love them all.

My weight loss journey has been going pretty well, particularly considering how busy I've been lately.  I'm officially down a dress size and fitting into clothes I haven't been able to wear in a year.  My weight reflects the time in between my scleritis and my GI flare, so I feel like I've erased most of 2014 at this point.  Now to erase the scleritis flare from 2013 and I'll be back to normal.  I've still got a long way to go but I'm so ready!

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: The Beltane/May Day master post and announcement for 2015 articles!

The following are blog entries (with plenty of photos!) that I’ve posted over the years on the topic of Beltane / May Day. It includes placeholders for articles that are coming for 2015. Enjoy!
