2015 Spiritual Goals

I'm probably the most spiritually satisfied I've ever been.  I'm active in the KC pagan community, I volunteer as a photographer for Liithi Lushede, I'm a regular blogger here on Witchy Words, the blog experienced some success and acclaim in 2014, and I'm the Circle Coordinator for a sabbat-oriented pagan group called the Circle of Fountains.  Our membership numbers grew from just three when we started in Ostara to eight regular members by Yule.  Considering that we're pretty selective as to who we let join, I'm incredibly happy with the direction this Circle has gone, particularly in contrast to other ones I've been in over the years.  So, all-in-all, this is the area of my life that I feel needs the least amount of work.  It doesn't mean that there's nothing I could do to improve it, though!

Here's the chart:

As I discussed in my last article, the bare minimum number of goals I'll allow in an area is two.  There's always room for improvement.  If you see two goal openings in my chart, read it as 100%!

Clearly, some of my goals from last year's pentacle chart went to other sections and some of them are continuations of goals from the previous year that I feel I'll have no problems hitting.  But there are a few goals I can pull from here.

Focus on Witchy Words

While Witchy Words has been an absolute labor of love that I started purely to document my path, last year saw a modest income and some very humble, mild attention.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!  I never dreamed I'd be able to make WW work.  That being said, I'd like to throw that extra income and bit of attention back into the blog.

Witchy Words has had the same layout since January 2013.  While I like the general feel of it, it's starting to look outdated (or perhaps my design skills have improved - either way).  The picture of the candle that's featured on most of the page is something I took at our first rental house.  We've lived two other places since, making the layout feel a bit stale.  One of my old coworkers from my first job now works as a Brand Manager and Designer.  He sometimes comes to me when he needs suggestions about illustrative work, so I may cash that favor in and see if he can't give me some tips for the blog.  I might even throw some money his way if I can afford it.  With a little consultation from Nate in January, I'll be on my way to planning a new layout in February.  And by March, I'd like to implement that layout change.

I mostly manage my articles by tags.  While they're wonderful, I've also noticed I'm accumulating a lot of tags and it's getting a bit confusing.  I could also do with a bit of FAQ and maybe an About section.  What I'm talking about here are designing pages, tabs under the header image that might help direct you to what you need.  I'd like to brainstorm page ideas in April, plan those pages in May, and implement them in June.

Every year, I try to implement a posting schedule and fail.  Sometimes motivation just doesn't happen or other times I'm simply too busy.  Clearly, something wasn't working with each of the schedules I attempted, so I'd like to spend a month brainstorming posting schedules in July, then plan them in August.  I'll then take a month to test the waters and, if it works, I'll implement the schedule in October.

By then, I'll know what kind of income I can expect to see on a month-by-month basis.  This is where the fun comes in!  I'd like to start hosting giveaways, starting with one for Samhain starting in September and a Yule giveaway starting in November.  I'm not sure exactly what those will entail, so I'll have to plan them better when I get there.  That's why I'm starting them one month early for each.

Finally, in December, I'd like to plan out any changes I'd like to make for 2016.

You can find the full schedule here:

Rune Studies

Elder Futhark Runes have always been my thing, both for spell work and divination. I'd say I have pretty good knowledge for someone 26 years of age, but there's so much more research I could do.  With that in mind, I've constructed a year long rune study class that I'll put myself through.  Every two weeks, I'll study one rune (or one overarching rune set, called an "Aett") and one aspect of runes, such as the history, mythology and uses.  At the end of each two week study period, I'll give myself an exam to see how well I learned the topic at hand, culminating with a self-study period and a cumulative exam.

I do plan on sharing my studies with you here on Witchy Words, but I likely will not start posting them right away.  I want to make sure that what I share is accurate and that the study topics and exams work.  Thus, I'll start posting my work here starting in July.

If you'd like to try to study along with me on your own, here's the overall schedule I've planned for myself:

Tracking Spiritual Goals

In order to keep track of my goals, I will be posting up a list of them with some details about my progress and percentages of where I'm at from time to time.  Every month, I'll look at my progress for that month.  On the side column of my blog, I'll be keeping a yearly track of them.  The percentages will be based on the concise plan I develop at the beginning of the month to complete the goal.  Here is the template for my spiritual goals!
