Midsummer 2013 Altar

My Midsummer / Summer Solstice / Litha 2013 Altar

The Midsummer altar I created this year features a spiral of stones, including carnelian, sunstone, quartz and other red, brown, black or blue stones appropriate for the sabbat.  The spiral also includes flowers.  The spiral itself is a solar symbol that represents the continuity of life, a key element of my Midsummer ritual.  The spiral leads inward to a goldenrod colored candle with sunflowers carved on it, representative of the sun itself and labeled as so by The Sun, a card from the Ghosts and Spirits Tarot by Lisa Hunt.

To the left side, closer to the direction of the rising sun, is a large sunflower (artificial but representative).  It's tied with a red bow, symbolizing fire.  Above the altar is my pentacle wreath.  It too is tied with yellow and red ribbons, the only deviating ribbon being the white at the top representing spirit.  The altar itself is adorned with a gold table cloth, again representative of the sun.
